Mr Roe and Midlothian Council have been out clearing paths and the car park, great work!! It would be great if the two paths in the pictures could also be cleared to get everyone back into school safely on Monday. If anyone has a shovel and some muscle to spare, please meet at Woodburn PS tomorrow at 11.30am. Thank you!

Cost of the School Day Training
As you know your school has been allocated funding to reduce the Cost of the School day. We have been working with the children to identify the various costs incurred with attending school, from getting dressed in the morning, eating at school and getting involved in activities after school. We have been lucky enough to secure training from the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) that is aimed at parents/guardians and teaching staff. The training will cover how to identify where costs are affecting low income families and simple actions Parent Councils and schools could take to help poverty-proof the school day. The CPAG have provided a really handy toolkit which will give you a bit more information: Cost of the School Day Toolkit<http://www.cpag.org.uk/sites/default/files/National%20Parent%20Council%20Toolkit.pdf>
There are 2 free training sessions planned (same content at both sessions), Monday 19th February, 6-8pm at Dalkeith Arts Centre and Wednesday 21st February, 6-8pm at Mayfield Library. Everyone is welcome at either of the sessions but we would encourage you to book a place so we have an idea of numbers:

Mayfield – Wednesday https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/copy-of-cost-of-the-school-day-training-mayfield-tickets-42898771380
Any questions please get in touch – thanks, Catherine.
