FLC – Plans

Work Started on the plans on the 30th November 2015. 

The space was previously used by Dalkeith After School Club. DASC remain in the school re-sited in the Community Learning and Development rooms.

Proposed completion of the building works will be 12th February with Midlothian Sure Start moving in over the February holiday week.

To accommodate this new facility the existing rooms will be stripped out. External windows will be replaced and have cills dropped, allowing children to view outside. A glazed door and screen will allow direct access to a new external play area with impact absorbent surfaces, children’s play equipment and secure fence.
Internally, the play room will be a similar type spec to a nursery, albeit catering for a younger age group – which has more stringent requirements for toilet provision for infection control. The facilities will be approved and certified by the Care Inspectorate.
The parent room will be used for teaching and communicating with small groups of parents. The office provides space for permanent administrative staff as well as visiting specialists. The small meeting room provides a private
